What We Do
ExcelCare24 provides residential care and everyday support for children and young people across Oxenhope House and Astlethorpe Haven. Our care is centred on individual needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties associated with trauma, neglect and disrupted relationships.
Every young person has their own care plan and a key worker who takes time to understand what matters to them. We bring together everyday care, education, health, relationships and opportunities to develop at a pace that reflects the individual.
Our Homes
Our two open homes, Oxenhope House and Astlethorpe Haven, provide settings for individualised residential care. We work with placing authorities to consider which home can meet each young person’s needs.
Oxenhope House is a three-place home in Milton Keynes for young people aged 9–17. It has individual bedrooms, shared living and dining spaces, a quiet room and garden space. Visit Our Homes to learn more and view the Oxenhope House gallery.

Tailored Support
A nurturing environment works best when it is supported by clear, individual care. Our team brings these areas together in everyday life.
Trauma-Informed Support
We look beyond behaviour to understand a young person’s experiences, helping them feel safe through predictable routines, calm responses and consistent care.
PACE-Informed Care
Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy guide how staff connect with young people and help rebuild trust and emotional safety.
Person-Centred Support
Individual care plans reflect each young person’s needs, strengths, identity, wishes and aspirations, and are reviewed as their needs change.
Education & Achievement
We work with schools and education professionals to support attendance, learning, homework and additional educational needs.
Health & Wellbeing
We help young people access appropriate health services and develop positive routines around food, sleep, personal care and physical activity.
Meaningful Relationships
Consistent staff and a dedicated key worker provide time to listen, build trust and support safe family connections and friendships.
Our support focuses on:
- Everyday living and self-care skills
- Confidence, identity and self-esteem
- Education and learning
- Physical and emotional wellbeing
- Healthy relationships and personal boundaries
- Young people’s wishes and feelings
- Family contact where agreed and appropriate
- Sport, hobbies and personal interests
- Participation in the local community
- Preparing for future steps at an individual pace

Development
We help young people explore their interests, recognise their strengths and work towards realistic goals. Progress can be a new activity, a positive day at school, a practical skill or feeling more confident about asking for support.
Activity plans are shaped with young people and reviewed as their interests develop. Education, hobbies, leisure opportunities and everyday responsibilities help build confidence and a growing sense of independence.
Who We Support
We consider referrals individually, including young people whose emotional and behavioural difficulties are associated with:
- Early life trauma and neglect
- Family breakdown or disrupted relationships
- Attachment and relationship difficulties
- Child sexual or criminal exploitation
- County lines involvement
- Substance misuse
- Complex or distressed behaviours
- Mental health needs supportable within the home
Suitability depends on an individual assessment of the young person’s needs, risks and the needs of those already living in the home.
Planned Admissions
Placements are considered through individual assessment and careful matching with the appropriate home. Oxenhope House has planned admissions and does not accept urgent or emergency placements. Please contact us for Astlethorpe Haven’s admissions arrangements.
Initial Enquiry
We begin by understanding the young person’s circumstances and the support being sought.
Assessment & Matching
Relevant information and individual risk assessments help us consider whether the home can meet the young person’s needs safely.
Planning Together
Where a placement can proceed, we work with the placing authority and those involved to plan the young person’s arrival and support.
